I received a text yesterday with a photo and the simple message: “No tube no growth.” The photo shows a sawtooth oak that was planted about 3 months ago without a tree tube. The black pot is shown to provide scale.
“No tube no growth” – This sawtooth oak seedling was planted about 3 months ago without a tree tube and hasn’t grown at all.
A couple minutes later I got another text, showing a sawtooth oak planted at the same time with a tree tube. The black line on the tube marks the height of the seedling when it was planted.
Another sawtooth oak, planted at the same time – about 90 days ago. It has grown more than 30 inches in that time!
It will be fun to see how it grows when the growing season really gets started!
